Unitary Patent and UPC strategy
One plan for cost, coverage and enforcement across UPC countries.
Since the UPC opened in June 2023, every European patent holder has had choices to make. You can keep existing patents under national courts by opting out during the transitional period, which runs to at least 2030. New grants can take unitary effect across participating EU states for a single renewal fee. A single UPC action can also reach several countries at once. Each choice affects cost, risk and licensing value differently.
What we do
- Opt-out review Recommend, patent by patent, whether to opt existing European patents out of the UPC.
- Grant-stage choice Compare unitary effect with national validation on cost and coverage for new grants.
- Enforcement options Set out what a UPC action could reach for your strongest patents.
- Risk map Show where central revocation risk outweighs the reach of a single action.
