Stage 05 of 07 · Claim charts
Patent Claim Charts
Charts that hold up from negotiation to court.
A claim chart is the document a licensee's engineers and lawyers actually read. It sets each element of a patent claim beside the evidence that a product meets it. A good chart shortens negotiations. A weak one ends them.
We build charts only for pairings that have passed the Evidence of Use checkpoints. Every row carries quoted evidence, a source link and a plain-language note on why the element and the product feature match.
What we do
- Element breakdown Split each asserted claim into its individual elements.
- Evidence links Tie every element to quoted text from a named source, with the URL.
- Analyst comment Explain in plain words why each element matches, so non-specialists can follow the argument.
- Strength ratings Rate each element and note the likely counterarguments.
- Litigation-ready version Prepared to court standard with partner patent counsel when talks stall. For US enforcement, charts can be prepared to meet Rule 11 expectations.
Example engagement
A US public research university, life sciences and energy patents
Charts for two very different patents, each needing to be mapped against a commercial product in its field.
We charted both patents against products in active commercial or late-stage clinical use, with quoted public evidence and an analyst comment on every element. Across the wider engagement we produced Evidence of Use and pairing summaries for a 58-patent US portfolio and a 12-patent non-US portfolio, one slide per patent.
Board-ready material with named flagship examples and the quality checks behind them, ready to support licensing conversations.
